First geostationary satellite.
Syncom 3 was an experimental geosynchronous communication satellite stationed at 180° over the pacific ocean and was used to relay the 1964 Tokyo Olympics as well as other communications tests. Later on was used by the DoD to test the communication to Vietnam.
